Advanced materials and manufacturing startup ThinkMetal raises Rs 27 Cr funding from IAN Alpha Fund

Advanced materials and manufacturing startup ThinkMetal has secured Rs 27 crore in a funding round led by IAN Alpha Fund, with contributions from 3i Partners and its existing investors.

The company will utilise the capital to advance product development, strengthen its R&D infrastructure and drive wider adoption of its technology among industrial clients.

Founded by Sabyasachi Ghosh and Arushi Sharma, ThinkMetal is building indigenous solutions for precision metal manufacturing. Its technology platform integrates advanced materials, manufacturing techniques and industrial systems to shorten production cycles and reduce reliance on imported technologies.

Its current commercial product, SistemT1, is a metal additive manufacturing system designed to manufacture precision-engineered metal components. The system is powered by the company’s proprietary FuseX metal filament technology. ThinkMetal is also working to broaden its materials library and establish internal capabilities for processing additional materials.

The startup caters to manufacturers in sectors such as aerospace, defence, space, automotive and electric mobility. Having progressed beyond the technology development stage, it has undertaken enterprise pilots and is now preparing for larger-scale commercial deployments. IAN Alpha Fund said ThinkMetal has submitted more than 17 intellectual property applications.

The company claims its technology can produce high-value precision metal components up to 10 times faster and at 50% lower cost compared with conventional manufacturing methods.
