Agritech DayaTani raised $2.3 M Seed funding from Ascent Venture Group, others

In a seed funding round headed by Ascent Venture Group and including participation from KBI Investment, MDI Ventures, Northstar Ventures, BRI Ventures, and Gentree Fund, Singapore-based agritech startup DayaTani has raised US $2.3 million.

DayaTani was established in 2023 and operates research and development facilities statewide in Java, Indonesia, with an emphasis on grain crops and horticulture, with the goal of increasing yields for Indonesian farmers.

The company is creating hardware and software with data science models integrated to provide more precise recommendations based on real-world conditions, like which fertilizer to use. It then provides farmers with these products under a profit-sharing arrangement.

A semi-bionic agronomist chatbot has been made available on DayaTani’s app and WhatsApp. This tool leverages multimodal capabilities to precisely diagnose crop issues and lets farmers ask questions specific to agriculture.

DayaTani is working with Microsoft Singapore to create additional chatbots specifically designed for agricultural purposes.

In less than a year, DayaTani hopes to establish a network of weather stations that will provide precise local weather reports by deploying more than 100 IoT devices throughout Java.
