AI unicorn Krutrim laid-off over 100 employees: Report

According to an ET story, AI unicorn Krutrim has slashed over 100 workers in its second round of layoffs as part of a strategic restructuring to create leaner teams and improve resource management.

The company’s freshly onboarded linguistics team has been severely harmed by the layoffs. The study claims that Krutrim’s linguistics team used to employ roughly 600 workers.

This comes after more than a dozen positions were eliminated in the company’s initial wave of layoffs in June.

In January 2024, Krutrim reached the unicorn club and raised about $75 million. Among its investors are the Sarin Family, Z47 (previously Matrix), and others. The business was recently in the headlines because of a possible new fundraising initiative. Krutrim, however, formally denied having such conversations.

Just over a month has passed since Krutrim unveiled Kruti, a Gen 2 multimodal agentic AI assistant that can evaluate text, voice, photos, and files to produce responses and thorough reports.
