Animoca Brands raised $75 M from multiple investors
A unicorn in the world of blockchain gaming, Animoca Brands has raised $75.3 million from backers such as Liberty City Ventures, Kingsway Capital, and Alpha Wave Ventures.
The fundraising, which was first announced at the beginning of the year and “extended to accommodate due diligence processes,” is now in its second phase, according to a statement from the Hong Kong-based firm.
In addition to other things, it intends to utilize the new money to finance investments and acquisitions, acquire intellectual property licensing, and create additional goods. The business wants to further its venture into the metaverse.
It received US $359 million in January from a deal that was handled by Liberty City Ventures. The fundraising effort, which valued Animoca at $5 billion USD, included Sequoia China and Winklevoss Capital as participants. However, the most recent fundraising raises its estimated value to US $5.9 billion, according to The Block.
At a US $2.2 billion valuation, Animoca received US $65 million in October 2021 from Ubisoft, Sequoia, and other investors.
