Animoca led $3 M Seed funding secured by Japanese gaming startup Gacha Monsters

A seed round led by Animoca Brands has seen the Japanese entertainment and gaming startup Gacha Monsters raise US $3 million. Big Time Games, FBG, and Infinity Ventures Crypto are among the other investors.

Jia Shen, a game developer who has worked on games like Pokémon Medallion, Battle Cats, and the international Disney Tsum Tsum version, is the startup’s leader. The money will be used to produce and market intellectual properties (IPs) in a variety of media, including video games, anime, comic books, physical goods, and Web3.

Poglin, the first self-developed property of Gacha Monsters, is a world full of various creatures, each with their own special abilities. The goal is to release the Poglin game’s alpha version in the first quarter of 2024.

The company’s ultimate goal is to make Poglin a multi-platform intellectual property that includes games, anime, Web3, and tangible goods.

According to Gacha Monsters, it will soon reveal its collaboration with an unidentified but “renowned” Japanese IP. The business withheld additional details.
