Blockchain-focused CV Labs accelerator selected Kenyan, Nigerian startups
Among the eight businesses chosen for the sixth iteration of the CV Labs accelerator are startups based in Kenya and Nigeria. Selected businesses will receive up to US $135,000 in funding, access to additional capital sources, one-on-one mentorship, and customized growth hacks.
The ecosystem business pillar of global blockchain investor CV VC, with its headquarters located in Switzerland, is CV Labs. CV Labs is a global ecosystem nurturer with locations in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, South Africa, Germany, and Portugal. It does this by hosting industry events and summits, community-focused co-working spaces, acceleration programs, and advisory and research reports, among other things.
Eight ventures from both traditional industries and web3 infrastructure have been chosen for its sixth batch of accelerators. The CV Labs accelerator is not tied to any particular blockchain, and participants can receive expert advice from ten of the most popular protocols. They will receive US $135,000 in funding in addition to one-on-one mentoring, access to alternative capital sources, and customized growth hacks.
Two of the companies that were chosen are based in Africa: Jamit, a decentralized podcast hosting platform that offers cloud storage, global reach, engagement rewards, and unique NFT experiences for creators and listeners; and Shamba Records, based in Kenya, which provides farmers with a farmer’s wallet and real-time data collection tool to unlock credit access.
The United States (US), the United Kingdom (UK), Switzerland, Poland, and Germany are the home countries of other chosen businesses.
“Our accelerator provides optimal conditions for growth. We provide the accepted projects access to a network of industry-leading mentors and investors. Bespoke support, geared toward each specific startup, and assistance with everything from entity structuring to product roadmap construction,” said Bastian Wetzel, head of acceleration at CV VC AG.
