Ramesh Swamy, Director, Unnati Foundation, said, “We would like to thank ExxonMobil and Broadridge for their financial support for the projects. This collaboration is a great example of how social ventures and private players can collaborate for the greater good of the community. Through our joint efforts, more people in rural communities can now have easy access to safe and clean drinking water, which is essential for health and well-being. We look forward to working closely with Boson Whitewater to reach many more rural communities across India.”
Vikas Brahmavar, CEO and Co-Founder, Boson Whitewater, said, “At Boson Whitewater, our overarching goal is to use our technology to create easy access to clean water. We look for opportunities like this that allow us to make a huge difference in communities that find it difficult to access clean water. We are excited about our partnership with the Unnati Foundation and look forward to implementing more projects together in the future.”
Unnati Foundation was founded in 2014 by Ramesh Swamy. A non-profit organisation working towards sustainability in rural India. The foundation has been working towards providing clean water to communities in rural Karnataka. They have also executed rainwater harvesting systems and constructed check dams to conserve water in the rural areas of Karnataka.
Bengaluru-based Boson Whitewater was founded in 2011 by Vikas Brahmavar and Gowthaman Desingh. To date, they have successfully installed water purification systems in community centers, schools, and hospitals. The company aims to change the way communities recycle their wastewater.
The water ATMs are being installed in areas where it’s a challenge to access water. The water ATMs will be equipped with advanced purification technology, ensuring that the water is of high quality. Providing real-time data on the usage of the ATM as these ATMs will be linked with a mobile application.
The charge to oversee the operations of these ATMs has been handed over to local entrepreneurs, who will be responsible for the maintenance. They will receive training from Boston Whitewater and the Unnati Foundation.
The availability of clean drinking water will improve the health and well-being of the communities, especially women and children, who are most affected by water scarcity and contamination.
