Canadian firm Busbud acquired SA mobility startup Ratality
Busbud, a global ground travel booking platform based in Canada, has acquired Ratality, a South African company that provides revenue management optimization software for ground travel operators.
Ratality is a cloud-based software solutions provider that was founded in 2017 and makes it easy for ground transportation operators to digitally manage their businesses and maximize profits. The company provides solutions for operators of many different kinds of ground transportation, including buses, coaches, ferries, charters, tours, and transfers.
In addition to many other highly desired features, the company’s fully integrated, multi-modal management solutions enable operators to better manage their fleets through advanced demand forecasting, dynamic pricing, fleet management, and revenue management.
The Canadian business Busbud, a prominent global mobility group that runs ground transportation-focused marketplaces where customers can reserve tickets for intercity buses and trains on more than three million routes in more than 80 countries across the globe, has now acquired Ratality.
Busbud’s business suite will be enhanced with revolutionary features like fleet and driver management, dynamic pricing, advanced demand forecasting, and solutions for the charter and rentals industries by incorporating Ratality’s distinct expertise.
By partnering with Ratality, Busbud can expand its offerings and turn into a comprehensive global solution provider for operators. Through the acquisition, Busbud’s presence in Africa is increased and their current partnership is strengthened.
“Uniting with Busbud expands the reach of our platform to bus operators around the world,” said Arend de Waal, CEO and co-founder of Ratality. “Our innovative revenue management solutions generate immediate ROI for our partners and have already been proven in other travel sectors like airlines. Overall, this combination unlocks untapped potential for bus operators, maximising revenue and operational efficiency.”
Busbud’s co-founder and CEO, LP Maurice, stated that the company’s growing B2B offering would be enhanced by the Ratality partnership.
“We’ve heard first-hand from ground travel operators the tangible results they’ve achieved by using Ratality to generate more revenue for their businesses. We were extremely impressed by the technology and capabilities of their platform. It just really made sense to bring Ratality’s team of revenue management experts on board and integrate these features further into our core B2B platform,” he said.
“We wanted these capabilities to be in the hands of all of our operator partners worldwide. We have been partnered with ground travel operators for more than a decade and thrive on their success. We are excited to keep innovating together with Ratality for years to come for the benefit of our operator partners.”
