ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence platform, has announced an investment of $180 million in a biotech startup, the startup that aims to prolong human life. The biotech startup, Retro Biosciences, has been working on a groundbreaking technology that could extend human lifespan by up to 50 years.
Sam Altman, CEO, ChatGPT said, “The discovery made by the scientists and researchers found that diluting the blood plasma of aged mice could have rejuvenating effects. With this, they got the idea of cellular reprogramming and establishing a company centered on aging biology.
The company further added that the startup will do so by finding anti-ageing mechanisms in non-human mammals and then translate those scientific strategies to humans.
Joe Betts LaCroix and Sam Altman have put their focus on life extension-based research being conducted by US Berkeley scientists.
According to reports by MIT Technology, ChatGPT’s CEO, Sam Altman, has invested in the biotech startup as part of a bigger investment which also includes Helion Energy.
The California based startup, Retro Biosciences, was founded in 2021 by Betts-Lacroix, Sheng Ding and Matt Buckley. The startup’s focus on dealing with age related illness in order to expand the human life.
Both startups’ goal is to give a healthy and prolonged life to humans by a decade. With this investment of $180 million, the biotech startup gets a kickstart and will be able to function till about 10 years. During an interview with MIT Technology Review, he expressed his idea of increasing the lifespan of humans with the help of biotech startups and innovative technology.
The biotech startup will further utilize these funds to continue its research and development to bring its technology to market as soon as possible.
