Digital lending startup Zype obtained Rs 90 Cr from Unleash Capital

With participation from longtime investor Xponentia Capital, digital lending startup Zype has secured Rs 90 crore (about $10.2 million) in a new investment round led by Japanese venture capital firm Unleash Capital Partners.

Since its founding in 2022, the Mumbai-based company has raised a total of Rs 236 crore in stock. Unitus Capital served as the transaction’s only advisor.

Zype obtained its license in 2023 and has been operating as a non-banking financing business (NBFC) ever since. It provides young, salaried people with unsecured personal loans for things like weddings, house renovations, and medical bills.

With an AUM of Rs 400 crore, Zype, which competes with firms like Fibe and Kreditbee, says it has given Rs 1,300 crore in loans to date.

The startup broke even in the final quarter of FY25 and is currently functioning at an annual recurring revenue (ARR) run rate of Rs 150 crore. Beginning in FY26, it anticipates reporting net earnings.

Zype wants to keep making money while improving its credit so that it may get more loans from banks and NBFCs.
