G6 Hospitality acquired by OYO for $525 M
For $525 million, the international travel technology company OYO purchased G6 Hospitality, the owners of the Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands, from Blackstone Real Estate.
In FY26, the deal is expected to boost OYO’s EBITDA to more than Rs 2,000 crore ($238 million). The upcoming fiscal year, which will mark the first full year of Motel 6’s integration, is anticipated to see an EBITDA contribution of more than Rs 630 crore ($75 million).
With the acquisition, OYO’s portfolio now includes about 1,500 franchised hotels in the US and Canada, greatly increasing its footprint in North America. With G6 Hospitality contributing $1.7 billion, the combined company is expected to generate a gross booking value of about $3 billion.
Under the name OYO Vacation Homes (OVH), OYO has made strategic acquisitions to increase its footprint in Europe. Europe is a major market for OYO, with more than 184,000 properties spread throughout the continent, the US, the UK, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
Among the company’s holdings is DanCenter, a vacation home management business that oversees 12,000 properties in Germany, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. DanCenter has doubled its market presence and revenue since its acquisition in 2019, becoming one of Denmark’s top vacation rental companies.
Traum-Ferienwohnungen is an online vacation rental platform with 100,000 homes, and Belvilla is a company that manages 65,000 vacation homes in 20 countries.
By purchasing Direct Booker in Croatia (3,200 homes) in 2022 and, most recently, CheckMyGuest, a high-end vacation rental business with headquarters in Paris, the company further expanded its footprint in Europe.
Technological innovations are part of the integration plan, and OYO’s 300-person product specialist team is expected to improve operational effectiveness and guest experience.
