Google invites applications for its AI-focused accelerator program in Africa
Google for Startups Accelerator: AI First, a program that supports African startups looking to use artificial intelligence to address regional issues, is now accepting applications.
The most recent Google for Startups initiative in Africa acknowledges the transformative role AI is playing on a global scale, reinventing industries and expanding the boundaries of what is possible. It also emphasizes the important roles played by African startups in using AI to tackle some of the most urgent problems facing the continent.
The “AI First” program is designed to aid startups eager to explore the potential of AI. It incorporates lessons learned from earlier programs like Google for Startups Accelerator: Africa, Google for Startups Black Founders Fund, and Google for Startups Accelerator: Women Founders.
The 10-week equity-free accelerator is now accepting applications from startups up to the Series A stage that are based in Africa or developing AI and machine learning solutions with an emphasis on the continent. Access to Google’s AI know-how, technical resources, including up to US$350,000 in Google Cloud Credits, mentorship from seasoned AI experts, and priceless networking opportunities are just a few of the advantages for participants.
“Africa’s tech landscape is vibrant and ever-evolving. It’s inspiring to see African startups not only harnessing AI to address our unique challenges but also setting benchmarks for the world. AI First is more than a programme; it’s a testament to our belief in the vision of these startups, ensuring they have the support and guidance they need to realise their full potential,” said Folarin Aiyegbusi, head of the startup ecosystem for Africa at Google.
Applications are open until September 6.
