India’s diamond city Surat unearths success with SaaS startups
Surat has been renowned as the ‘Diamond City’ of India for its flourishing diamond industry, and now, the city has also become a hub for mining SaaS (software-as-a-service) startups, which are focused to make a mark globally.
Commenting on this, Founder, Dhiwise, Vishal Virani, said. “We started off small in 2021. Today, we have more than 50,000 users across the globe and 60 percent of our business comes from the US.”
The Surat based programming startup, Dhiwise, provides a platform to developers where they can convert their designs into developer-friendly code for building applications.
According to a report by Tracxn, Surat currently has 2,530 startups out of which 164 are SaaS based startups. Collectively, they have raised a capital of about $224 million till date.
Avinash Raghava, CEO, SaaSBOOMi, said, “Mark my words, in the next 5-10 years, the next Zoho and Freshworks kind of a company is going to be coming from Surat and other smaller tier III and IV cities like Rajkot or Bhopal.”
With the help of entrepreneurs and the talent India has in the tech industry, Surat has grown rapidly and is emerging as the hotspot for innovations in SaaS solutions.
