Indonesian AI firm Nexmedis receives investment from East Ventures, Forge Ventures

The Health Information System (HIS) provider Nexmedis, based in Indonesia, has raised an undisclosed sum of money, with East Ventures and Forge Ventures serving as co-leads.

Nexmedis said in a statement on Monday that the funding will advance the company’s goal of transforming healthcare operations, improving clinical services, and improving patient outcomes throughout Indonesia.

The company will be able to offer its services to hospitals all over Indonesia with the aid of this funding.

The company also intends to introduce more specialized AI solutions to address Indonesia’s healthcare issues.

“We are thrilled to have secured this investment, which will be a game-changer as we continue to innovate and bring AI-driven solutions to healthcare,

“The commitment from East Ventures and Forge Ventures is a testament to the trust they’ve placed in our mission to bridge the healthcare accessibility gap through innovative technology,” said Yehuda Dani Utomo, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Nexmedis.

“With their support, we are poised to accelerate our growth and impact to improve patient care and outcomes,” he added.

The statement claims that healthcare inefficiencies have slowed diagnosis and treatment, especially because of manual administrative tasks and fragmented data.

Furthermore, Indonesia’s large geographic area makes it challenging to deliver cutting-edge medical equipment and training in isolated locations, which lowers the standard of patient care.

In order to promote healthcare innovation, Nexmedis, which was founded in 2023 by Yehuda Dani Utomo (co-founder and CEO), Matilda Narulita (co-founder and CEO), and Dr. Almer Deta Tarandha (co-founder and CEO), combines knowledge of computer science, management consulting, and medicine.

The primary focus of the company’s solutions is integrating AI into healthcare procedures to produce more effective and efficient healthcare results.

Nexmedis offers an AI-powered HIS that enhances the patient-provider journey from beginning to end.

Beginning with Nexmedis’ Clinical Decision Support (CDS) solution, which helps medical professionals by offering diagnosis recommendations using ICD-10 codes (International Classification of Diseases 10th Revision, a universal code for diseases), it facilitates the processing of insurance claims and allows for customized treatment recommendations. It also ensures accurate data input and documentation for private insurers and Indonesia’s Social Security Agency on Health (BPJS).

Additionally, a transcription tool driven by AI is presently being developed by Nexmedis to transform voice notes and condense doctor-patient conversations into organized digital records.

The system’s overall goal is to streamline operations and cut down on manual paperwork, freeing up healthcare providers to concentrate on patient care. This tool will soon be made available.

More than 400 healthcare facilities have benefited from Nexmedis since August 2023.
