Indonesia’s HiFeed raised Pre-seed funding from Wavemaker Impact
HiFeed, a start-up in Indonesia that provides solutions for cattle farming, announced that its pre-seed funding round, which was led by climate-tech venture builder Wavemaker Impact (WMi), had closed successfully.
According to a statement from HiFeed, the investment will allow the company to accelerate creative solutions that seek to decarbonize the cattle farming and livestock production sectors, turning them into more environmentally friendly and sustainable sectors.
To reach farmers in strategic areas, HiFeed intends to scale its solutions, improve its technological infrastructure, and increase its research and development activities over time.
“Cattle farming is a vital part of the global food system, but it also has a major environmental impact,
“Thanks to Wavemaker Impact’s support, we’re closer to revolutionizing the industry with solutions that enable farmers to cut emissions while improving productivity,” said Ihsan Akhirulsyah, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of HiFeed.
He claims that the company wants to enable farmers all over the world to profit from decarbonization while also making it scalable.
He pointed out that one of the biggest sources of methane, a key component of global warming, and 9% of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide come from livestock farming, specifically cattle farming.
“HiFeed is working to significantly cut methane emissions from cattle, improve feed efficiency, and promote sustainable farming practices that balance environmental stewardship with economic viability,” he added.
The statement claims that finding high-performance, reasonably priced feed that can increase average daily growth (ADG) is one of the largest problems facing cattle farmers today.
The three main pillars of HiFeed’s solutions—carbon insetting, sustainable feed, and methane mitigation technologies—are intended to address this issue.
In order to lower methane emissions, the company is reportedly creating novel feeds with anti-methanogenic qualities in addition to other technologies that improve digestion and feeding procedures.
It is reducing the carbon intensity of cattle farming by investing in research to develop nutrient-rich, environmentally friendly feed options.
In order to help farmers reach net-zero goals and increase their profitability, HiFeed also offers resources that let them measure and cut their carbon emissions.
“Early results from HiFeed’s pilot projects have demonstrated promising outcomes – feed costs for farmers has lowered, alongside improved cattle growth rates,
“With Ihsan’s experience and passion for agritech, we’re confident in HiFeed’s potential to transform food systems in Southeast Asia and beyond,” said Guillem Segarra, Principal at Wavemaker Impact.
A start-up company called HiFeed is committed to using premium feed to lessen the carbon footprint of cattle farming.
The company works under the premise that combating climate change requires agricultural innovation.
The company’s main goal is to develop innovative techniques and technologies that will lessen the environmental impact of cattle farming.
By tackling greenhouse gas emissions from livestock, particularly methane, it seeks to open the door for a more sustainable agricultural future.
Wavemaker Impact was founded in 2021 and partners with successful entrepreneurs to co-found sustainability startups. By 2035, the company hopes to have a portfolio of businesses that could lower the global carbon budget by 10%.
