Local travel company Local Knowledge acquired by SA prop-tech startup Neighbourgood

Proptech startup based in South Africa To expand its offerings, Neighbourgood has purchased Local Knowledge, a travel-tech business, to include travel experiences.

Neighbourgood was founded by Murray Clark, Kim Clark, and St. John Gardner with the goal of improving neighborhoods all across the world. Having more than 1,000 living and working spaces, and 650 more planned for 2024, it has become one of Africa’s fastest-growing hospitality firms.

The next-generation travel experience and technology firm, Local Knowledge, created by Nick Schooling and Keegan Foreman, has been strategically acquired by Neighbourgood.

Neighbourgood said the acquisition was “not just a merging of two companies and teams, it’s a marriage of two visionary missions to redefine the way we live, work, and experience a city – all the while fostering meaningful connections and positively impacting local communities”.

Through this acquisition, Local Knowledge will build “The Experience Vertical” of Neighbourgood, helping Neighbourgood guests “create lifelong memories and meaningful connections through authentic, local experiences and tours, community-centric events, and an intuitive app that provides personalised recommendations and inside access to what’s happening in a city”.

“This acquisition represents a significant milestone in the travel and hospitality industry. It’s a meaningful step toward a future where travel is not just about destinations but about the friendships, experiences, and communities we build along the way. Neighbourgood and Local Knowledge are well-poised to lead this transformative journey,” said Murray Clark, CEO of Neighbourgood.
