Mosa Meat closes Series B funding at €61.8 million
Maastricht: Maastricht-based Mosa Meat, a cultivated meat innovator, has completed the second closing of its Series B fundraising. The additional approx. €16.5 million brings the total raised so far to around €61.8 million.
Founded in 2015, Mosa Meat produces slaughter-free hamburgers. The burger is harvested from cow cells, rather than raising and slaughtering a whole animal. By growing meat naturally from cells, Mosa Meat strives to accelerate the transition to a truly sustainable global food system.
The startup’s new funding round brings together leading global investors dedicated to sustainability and is on board for creating a cleaner, kinder way of making real beef.
The round is led by Luxembourg-based Blue Horizon Ventures, the food technology fund that aims to support and promote a positive global impact on the environment, human health, and animal welfare. Other investors include Target Global, ArcTern Ventures, Rubio Impact Venture, and Mitsubishi Corporation.
The fresh funds will accelerate the startup’s next steps: extending its current pilot production facility, developing an industrial-sized production line, expanding its team, and introducing delicious cultivated beef to consumers.
