Motorola Solutions acquired SA-founded public safety startup RapidDeploy

Motorola Solutions has paid an undisclosed sum to acquire RapidDeploy, a cloud-native next-generation 911 solution provider for public safety that was founded in South Africa.

The cutting-edge Next Generation 911 (NG911) product suite from RapidDeploy improves decision-making and expedites emergency response. Eclipse Analytics, which assists Public Safety Answering Points in measuring 911 call response times, Lightning, which provides first responders with direct access to vital 911 call data, and Radius Mapping, which provides accurate real-time call location mapping, are all included in the suite.

Motorola Solutions has acquired the well-funded business, which is currently based in the United States (US), though the terms of the transaction have not been made public. In order to better serve their communities, public safety agencies will benefit from the acquisition by having better access to data and greater situational awareness during emergency response thanks to Motorola Solutions and RapidDeploy.

In order to further improve telecommunicator speed and efficiency, Motorola Solutions plans to incorporate RapidDeploy’s technology into its VESTA 911 call handling software and AI-powered VESTA NXT platform. In 24 US states, RapidDeploy presently supports more than 1,600 PSAPs and emergency communications centers.

“We are honoured to join Motorola Solutions, a company that shares our commitment to public safety and our mission of saving lives by reducing response times,” said Steve Raucher, co-founder and CEO of RapidDeploy. “Together, we will continue to accelerate innovation in 911 technology, helping to make NG911 smarter, more unified and seamlessly integrated to empower first responders and help save more lives.”

“In a crisis of any magnitude – a vehicle accident, medical emergency or active shooter – every second counts during the emergency response,” said Mahesh Saptharishi, executive vice president and chief technology officer, Motorola Solutions. “RapidDeploy’s technology connects first responders with critical information so they can reach those in need faster and be more prepared, saving valuable time in emergencies.”
