New startup Mythik launched by former Housing.com CEO Jason Kothari

Mythik is a new tech-first company founded by Jason Kothari, the former CEO of Housing.com, with the goal of introducing Eastern mythology, folktales, and history to a worldwide audience.

Kothari stated that the global predominance of Western narratives in entertainment offers a chance for Eastern stories to become more widely known, according to an ET report. Additionally, he has held executive positions at digital payments company FreeCharge and e-commerce platform Snapdeal.

Hollywood and Western narratives have dominated the global entertainment scene. Now is the moment to tell the world about Eastern stories—our history, culture, values, and greatest legends—while utilizing state-of-the-art technology in every facet of the company to establish a new tech-first entertainment company, Kothari stated.

Former senior executives from Disney, Netflix, Amazon Studios, Jio, and Tencent are part of Mythik’s founding team. The venture intends to create immersive storytelling formats aimed at a potential audience of 3.5 billion people in Asia and beyond, though its project list and launch schedule are still to be revealed.

After founding CEO Rahul Yadav left Housing.com in August 2015, Kothari joined the company and was appointed CEO in November of the same year. He later held the positions of CEO of FreeCharge, where he oversaw the company’s sale to Axis Bank, and Chief Strategy and Investment Officer at Snapdeal.

When Kothari bought the struggling comic book publisher Valiant Entertainment and oversaw its recovery, his business career officially began. In the end, he received $100 million for selling the business to DMG Entertainment. Bloodshot, the Vin Diesel-led movie based on a Valiant character, was also executive produced by him.

Along with his executive responsibilities, Kothari is a board member of Emaar India and has previously served as an advisor to Noon and Balaji Telefilms.
