Nigerian defence-tech startup Terra Industries raised $11.75 M funding

Terra Industries, a Nigerian defense technology startup, has raised US $11.75 million to finance its proposal to use domestic defense technology to address Africa’s escalating security issues.

Terra Industries, which was founded in 2024 by Nathan Nwachuku and Maxwell Maduka and has its headquarters in Abuja, creates and implements multi-domain defense systems that cover the air, land, and eventually the sea in order to monitor, detect, and respond to threats like terrorism, sabotage, and armed attacks on vital assets.

“The goal is to build Africa’s first defence prime, to build autonomous defence systems and other technologies that protect our critical infrastructure and resources from armed attacks. We want to take the defence of our continent’s resources and infrastructure into Africa’s own hands,” Nwachuku said.

Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale founded the US venture capital firm 8VC, which led the US$11.75 million funding round. Valor Equity Partners, Lux Capital, SV Angel, Leblon Capital, Silent Ventures, Nova Global, and angel investor Micky Malka also participated.

With the additional funding, Terra intends to develop its software and artificial intelligence teams, build more defense factories, and increase its manufacturing capacity throughout Africa.
