Norrsken Accelerator invites applications from African early-stage startup founders

African early-stage entrepreneurs who have a “vision for a better future” are encouraged to apply to the Norrsken Accelerator, located in Stockholm. The program offers access to an eight-week business development program along with US $125,000 in funding.

Norrsken was established in 2016 with the goal of assisting entrepreneurs in overcoming the biggest problems facing the globe. Niklas Adalberth is a founding member of the Swedish fintech unicorn Klarna. Its ecosystem includes Norrsken Founders Fund, Norrsken VC, and Norrsken House, a co-working space in Stockholm that accommodates over 350 impact entrepreneurs.

The foundation closed its first African technology growth fund last November for US $205 million, according to media reports in 2019. The foundation said it planned to use Kigali, Rwanda, as a base for investments throughout East and Central Africa.

For its 2024 cohort, which will meet at Norrsken House from July to September, the Stockholm-based Norrsken Accelerator is currently accepting applications from startups worldwide. It is looking for pre-seed projects that are impact-focused and have strong business plans based on cutting-edge technologies.

Following an eight-week “sprint” at Stockholm’s Norrsken House, a selection of global ventures will receive equity funding totalling US $125,000.

“During this time you’ll have 24/7 access to a workspace designed with tech and impact entrepreneurs in mind. We’ll work with you to tailor-make a programme and set up one-on-one sessions with relevant mentors and experts, all designed to help you scale and grow your impact and business,” Norrsken said.

“Finally, you’ll pitch to an audience of hundreds of investors, potential partners, and clients at Norrsken Investor Day. We’ll host a final celebration at the end of the program, but it’s not goodbye. We’ll continue to support you as a platform for peer advice and feedback, investor and partner connections.”

Applications are open until the end of April.
