Over $250 M approved by CMC to construct data center in Vietnam

CMC authorizes a more than $250 million investment to construct a data center in Vietnam.
The CMC Corporation investment in the CMC Hyperscale Data Center project, which has a total capital of more than $250 million, has been formally approved by the Saigon Hi-Tech Park (SHTP) management board.
More than just a digital infrastructure project at Ho Chi Minh City’s eastern gateway, CMC said in a statement on Monday that this milestone represents a significant advancement in the company’s quest to construct a hyperscale digital infrastructure, furthering the country’s AI Transformation – Go Global strategy and putting Vietnam on the international technological map.
The CMC Hyperscale DC SHTP, in contrast to conventional data centers, is built as a digital “heart”—a force for data processing, analysis, and storage—and provides millions of users with services like cloud infrastructure, big data, cyber security, and AI-as-a-service.
Synchronous next-generation network technologies, including XGS-PON, SD-WAN, SASE, and 800G DWDM optical transmission, are used throughout the center to provide ultra-high bandwidth, reliable, and secure connectivity from core to edge.
The Digital Twin system, which allows for real-time operation monitoring and facility optimization, is a technological highlight of the project.
In addition, CMC places a high priority on renewable energy sources in its pursuit of a contemporary, ecologically responsible Green Data Center that satisfies global standards.
The center will start out with a 30 MW initial capacity that can be increased to 120 MW in order to meet the enormous computing demands of the digital economy and AI development.
The statement claims that the project’s true worth is found in its long-term vision as well as its size.
Since its inception, CMC has established an open technology ecosystem that includes CMC Cloud, AI, big data, and cyber security. It has also developed core capabilities like a GPU farm that houses more than 1,000 NVIDIA GH200 units and several Uptime Tier III-certified data centers, which are pioneers in Vietnam.
A ground-breaking upgrade, the CMC Hyperscale DC SHTP puts Vietnam on the map of Southeast Asia’s data infrastructure and prepares it to host Big Tech and AI companies from around the world.
Two important pillars of the country’s digital transformation are also powered by it: C.OpenAI, an open AI ecosystem with 25 proprietary core technologies, such as computer vision, large language models [LLM], voice processing, and Datalakehouse; and CMC Cloud, a cloud computing platform that was entirely developed in Vietnamese.
C.Face, C.OCR (SmartDocs), CLS legal assistant, AI Camera, and AI Box are just a few of the AI products that have already been successfully marketed and are highly regarded on the international scene.
In addition to its technological significance, the Hyperscale DC SHTP is a strategic national initiative.
