Over €5 million raised by Sonarworks, Riga-based Audio Technology Innovator
Sonarworks, the Latvian startup behind Grammy-winning producers’ precision audio software, revealed today that it has closed a €5 million fundraising round.
Karma Ventures, Trind Ventures, Proks Capital, Smart Growth VC, Wiser Financial Advisors, and angel investors Cesar Lamschtein and Victor Yun all participated in the round, which was led by Almaz Capital.
Sonarworks will use the new funds to expand its machine learning audio technology integration with consumer electronics products around the world. Sonarworks was founded in 2012.
Sonarworks debuted SoundID, a next-generation individualized audio system, in early 2020. SoundID is a paradigm leap in audio quality, moving away from the old one-size-fits-all approach and toward individualizing sound for everyone.
SoundID is a sound profile that evolves with the user over time thanks to machine learning. It is a free service that can be set up in minutes via a simple app test, based on the user’s unique hearing ability and listening preferences. As a result, listeners can enjoy their favourite music, movies, and even gaming.
In less than a year, popular consumer brands such as Gateway, a PC manufacturer; Drop, a data-driven product design company and audiophile headphone manufacturer; and Monoprice, the leading online retailer of high-quality and affordably priced consumer electronics and accessories, have all expressed interest in SoundID.
SoundID has also received important industry honours, including the CES Innovation Award.
Sonarworks continues to expand worldwide, to the United States and now Asia, with the new investment, actively encouraging tech innovators with a passion for audio and audio engineering to join their ever-growing team.
Joining a hypergrowth company such as Sonarworks provides exciting career options as well as the opportunity to be a part of a rapidly scaling company that is revolutionizing the music industry.
With its rapid expansion,
Sonarworks is prepared to deliver on its mission to bring next-level consumer audio technology to more than 1 billion devices globally.
Helmuts Bems, the Co-founder and CEO of Sonarworks stated, “The pandemic showed us that great audio and video technology are basic needs in the modern world. According to our research, we have found that people vary greatly in how they perceive sound and there is no one-size-fits-all solution for audio. This investment will help fuel international growth, bringing our transformative technology to consumer electronics manufacturers for personalized sound on any audio device.”
