Pantera Capital led investment secured by Animoca Brands’ subsidiary GAMEE
Pantera Capital (Pantera) has invested in GAMEE, the mobile gaming platform that created the popular game WatBird and is a subsidiary of Animoca Brands. The announcement was made on Wednesday.
According to a statement from Animoca Brands, GAMEE plans to use the money to increase its visibility on The Open Network (TON) through WatBird, a popular game that connects and onboards Telegram users to Web3 through entertaining gameplay that is reminiscent of memes.
The statement claims that GAMEE is integrating TON-based digital assets, such as tokens and NFTs, into its gaming experiences on Telegram in an effort to increase its visibility on the TON ecosystem.
Through community-driven market activations on GAMEE’s Telegram Mini App, the company hopes to draw more gamers, Web3 communities, GameFi investors, and Telegram users to the TON ecosystem. To date, over 4 million GAMEE users have linked their TON Wallets to WatBird.
Pantera’s investment comes after GAMEE recently received funding from TON Ventures.
It is mentioned that Pantera, which presently oversees more than $5 billion in assets, is the first institutional investment firm in the US to concentrate solely on blockchain technology.
Pantera expressed its belief in the potential of the TON ecosystem in a recent letter, calling it the biggest investment in the company’s history.
Pantera made one of its initial investments in the TON ecosystem with GAMEE, one of the top gaming platforms on Telegram.
The popular game WatBird, which has drawn 3 million daily active players, is among the more than 100 games available on GAMEE.
“Pantera Capital’s investment in GAMEE represents a significant vote of confidence in our vision to seamlessly integrate Web3 mechanics into the gaming experiences we’ve cultivated for our community of 90 million gamers,
“This support will help us accelerate our mission to strengthen the community’s engagement with the TON ecosystem,” said Bozena Rezab, Co-founder of GAMEE.
According to Pantera’s portfolio manager Cosmo Jiang, the company is thrilled to be able to assist with the expansion of applications within the TON ecosystem.
“We have been impressed by the traction that GAMEE has found with its Telegram Mini App games and look forward to seeing it expand its presence on TON,” he added.
Animoca Brands has owned GAMEE since 2020 since its founding in 2015.
The goal of the highly engaged mobile gaming platform GAMEE is to introduce a large number of players to Web3.
It has served over 10 billion gameplay sessions across multiple ecosystems and has over 90 million registered users.
