Pet food startup TailBlaze Longevity raises Rs 300K Pre-seed funding

Pet nutrition startup TailBlaze Longevity has secured $300,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by US-based venture capital firm Comma Capital. The startup has also appeared on Bharat Ke Superfounders.

The funds will support the launch of HeartPour, team expansion in Ahmedabad and efforts to reach more pet parents across India. Ahead of the product launch, TailBlaze plans to provide free servings of HeartPour to the first 500 dogs, the company said in a press release.

Established in August last year by Manaal Maniyar and Palak Devpura, TailBlaze is focused on canine nutrition and longevity. Its approach centres on high-protein, lower-carbohydrate formulations, with the aim of extending dogs’ lifespans by three to five years.

According to the Ahmedabad-based startup, HeartPour is a wet dog food range developed through four years of research and development. The formulation combines protein and superfoods with an Ayurvedic PanchTatva blend featuring curcumin, black pepper, parsley, amla and tulsi.

TailBlaze has also created FreshTail, a proprietary technology designed to produce fresh meals that remain shelf-stable. Its wider catalogue features more than 200 products spanning organic dog food, natural treats made with ingredients such as coconut and hemp or fish and strawberry, grooming products and accessories.

The startup operates through a WhatsApp-first commerce model and distributes its products through quick-commerce services and online platforms, including Blinkit and BBNow.

Other players in the pet nutrition industry are also expanding their offerings. Right4Paws focuses on science-backed, species-specific whole-food nutrition aimed at improving pet health and longevity. In December last year, the startup raised Rs 14 crore in Series A funding to strengthen manufacturing, R&D, specialised hiring and functional product development.

Benny’s Bowl raised $1.4 million in February this year to develop functional pet food targeting specific needs, including gut health, allergies, renal health, skin and coat care, and weight management.

In March this year, Zoomies secured Rs 5 crore in pre-seed funding to grow its clean-label, human-grade pet food business. Meanwhile, broader pet care platforms such as Supertails, which raised $30 million in a Series C round, are expanding into technology, personalised care and healthcare services.
