Pintar secured $3 M Pre-series A funding led by Havez Capital
There are still successful startups in the Indonesian edtech space despite the recent difficulties and tech winter.
For example, Havez Capital, an investment firm led by Imelda Harsono, who also holds the position of vice president at the Indonesian industrial gas company Samator Group, helped Pintar secure US$3 million in a pre-series A funding round.
SIG Venture Capital took part in the fundraising as well.
Pintar, formerly known as HarukaEdu, is a workforce development company that offers services like credentialing, job placement, and training. This distinguishes it from the majority of Indonesian edtech startups, which are mainly concerned with K–12 education.
“Our mission is to empower labor,” said Pintar CEO Ray Pulungan in a statement. He added that the company aims to enhance the skills of workers to “break through the infamous middle-income trap.”
According to Pintar, it now serves more than two million users. Private businesses like the minimarket chain Indomaret use its platform for hiring and training purposes, and state-owned Krakatau Steel uses it for compliance refreshers and talent development.
Pintar has collaborated with businesses as well as the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Education in Indonesia.
Prior to changing its name to Pintar in 2022, HarukaEdu had raised US $2.2 million in funding up to the series C stage.
