SA’s Loop announced as Sentech Africa Tech Week winner

At the recent Sentech Africa Tech Week, Cape Town-based mobility startup Loop won the pitch competition, defeating six other African tech startups.
One of the biggest gatherings of technology leaders, innovators, and industry professionals on the continent, Africa Tech Week is devoted to presenting innovative technological solutions that propel Africa’s development.
By facilitating access to financing and reducing the risks involved with carrying physical cash, Loop is revolutionizing the way small businesses and transportation providers enter the digital ecosystem. Loop stood out from the other finalists due to its market acceptance, business profitability, and—above all—its plans for growth and expansion throughout Africa.
The company won the Sentech Africa Tech Week pitch competition, and Loop CEO Imtiyaaz Riley won over the judges with the company’s daring strategy for digital payments and mobility in developing nations.
“Our win at Africa Tech Week is more than a trophy – it’s a signal that Africa is ready for real, homegrown innovation,” said Riley. “Loop was built in the heart of Cape Town to solve challenges we’ve lived through. We’re not just digitising payments – we’re rewriting how value moves in communities that have long been excluded. This recognition strengthens our resolve to scale meaningful tech across the continent, unlocking opportunity where it’s needed most.”
