SA’s Talk360 raised $1.4 M funding to support its next stage of development

To support its next stage of product development and platform expansion, Talk360, a global calling app developed in South Africa to improve the accessibility and dependability of international communication, has raised US $1.4 million in secondary investment.
Talk360 is a user-friendly calling app that enables users to make inexpensive international calls to any landline or mobile number. It was co-founded in 2016 by Dutch entrepreneurs Hans Osnabrugge and Jorne Schamp and South African venture builder Dean Hiine.
With offices in South Africa, the Netherlands, India, and Nigeria, it is already the most popular international calling app in Africa. As of 2023, it had connected over four million people. After completing a US$7 million seed round in 2022, Talk360 raised US$1.4 million in pre-Series A funding in September 2023.
Talk360’s primary investor since 2022, HAVAÍC, is leading the company’s most recent round, which is valued at US$1.4 million. Universum Wealth, a limited partner in HAVAÍC’s US$50 million African Innovation Fund 3, provided support for the deal.
Talk360’s next phase of product development and platform expansion will be supported by the most recent investment. This includes the ongoing development of Shop360, a new feature that allows users to send mobile airtime, data bundles, and top-ups to friends and family in more than 180 countries, as well as additional enhancements to the user experience.
“We are grateful for the continued conviction and support of HAVAÍC and Universum Wealth as we enter the next phase of our journey,” said Hans Osnabrugge, CEO of Talk360.
“As Talk360 consolidates its place as a leader in the African market and moves into the growth phase of its startup journey, we are excited to further support management through greater shareholding and an ever-evolving relationship built on a common vision to solve real-world challenges in Africa and beyond,” said Ian Lessem, managing partner at HAVAÍC.
