Savant BUILD programme invites SA hardware startups

The Savant BUILD program, a structured incubation program that gives chosen firms access to various types of support, has asked South African hardware entrepreneurs to submit applications.

Savant is a hardware technology incubator that Nick Allen founded in 2005. It offers commercial support to inventors and entrepreneurs who have created technologies and products based on science and engineering.

After receiving ZAR110 million (US $7.8 million) from the SA SME Fund, it established a venture fund in 2019 and has subsequently made investments in a number of businesses, including Jonga and SmartBlade. It has now created a structured incubation program in collaboration with international precious metals mining firm Sibanye-Stillwater that will prepare successful applicants for the different investment options provided by Savant Venture Fund and Sibanye-Stillwater iXS.

Beginning on September 5, 2022, and ending on February 10, 2023, is the Savant BUILD program’s duration. In addition to receiving specialized one-on-one coaching, selected entrepreneurs will have access to a network of partners. They will furthermore have access to specialized assistance, practical training, and a variety of well-selected materials.

In exchange for its services investment of ZAR100 000 ($6,000), Savant will have the chance to buy 5% of the company’s ownership. Up to August 14, applications are accepted.
