Second edition of Migration Entrepreneurship Prize accepting applications from African startups
The second cohort of the Migration Entrepreneurship Prize, a program for socially driven enterprises with a purpose to improve the inclusion of migrants in the Middle East and Africa, is now accepting applications.
The initiative, which is a collaboration between Seedstars and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs’ (FDFA) Peace and Human Rights Division, aims to strengthen and support areas prone to strong migration movements, such as the Middle East and Africa, by addressing the root causes of irregular migration and strengthening migrants’ socio-economic rights.
The Migration Entrepreneurship Prize is searching for socially-driven firms with a goal to improve migrants’ economic participation after the first batch of 20 startups were selected for solutions ranging from financial services, education, health, and more. Entrepreneurs from Sub-Saharan Africa, North Africa, and the Middle East will be targeted for the initiative.
Startups that address the good aspects of migration while also lowering migrants’ vulnerability, social-driven enterprises that relieve population pressure along migration routes, and entrepreneurs who offer products and services directly to migrants are all encouraged to apply. The Migration Entrepreneurship Prize is now introducing a Tunisia track, which will give additional support to Tunisian entrepreneurs that join the program.
Applications will be accepted until May 28.
