Seven startups in Puducherry to get assistance from AIC
In a contest organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry CII, seven startups were selected and have been absorbed by Atal Incubation Centre, Puducherry. The contest was initiated and supervised by the central government under ‘Atal Innovation Mission’ which will provide help and support to startups making it easier for them to develop products and to build a market base.
CII’s (Confederation of Indian Industry) Innovation contest was launched on 1st Aug and had received 337 applications from the ed-tech industry in the Union Territories. These seven teams were picked out of these 337 applications. Winners were awarded during a Startup Summit led by CII on Friday 18th Nov. The first five winners received an amount of ₹10,000 each which was presented by Chandira Priyanga Minister of Labour Puducherry. The top five winners included Shri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College, Aravind Eye Hospital, Achariya College of Engineering & Technology, Puducherry Technological University and Indrani College of Nursing. Two winners from Puducherry Technological University and NIT Karaikal received ₹8000 each.
Minister of Labour Puducherry, Chandira Priyanga appreciated the organizers and the participants. Further adding that “the government would render all assistance to young entrepreneurs. The role of entrepreneurs was very important in generating revenue and job creation.”
“Government will be providing a monthly allowance of ₹10,000 per person up to a maximum of five persons. A monthly allowance of ₹15,000 would be provided if the founder or co-founder of the startup happens to be a woman, SC, a person with a disability or transgender person,” an officer said.
