Skin care startup CHOSEN raised $1.2 M Seed funding

Friends and family contributed $1.2 million to the skincare startup CHOSEN, based in Chennai, during its seed round. As part of the SPARK program for women entrepreneurs, Peak XV Partners awarded a $100,000 equity-free grant prior to this funding.

It plans to expand its workforce and improve its supply chain capabilities with the proceeds.

CHOSEN, a cosmetic dermatologist founded by Dr. Renita Rajan, focuses on creating cutting-edge skincare products through technology formulations and patents, while also branching out into IoT-led skincare solutions.

CHOSEN received a $100,000 grant and was included in Peak XV’s cohort of women-led startups earlier this year. CHOSEN asserts that it has created a multi-channel ecosystem of highly active cosmetics that are suited for Indian skin types during the last four years. With 12 more SKUs in the works and more products planned for release in the next 18 months, it currently offers 34 SKUs.

For this fiscal year, CHOSEN expects to double its size.
