Stake in EV Motors Japan acquired by Toyoda Gosei
A portion of EV Motors Japan Co., Ltd. (EVM-J), a startup involved in the development and marketing of commercial electric vehicles such trucks and buses, has been purchased by Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd., a Japanese maker of automotive components.
In a statement last Friday, Toyoda Gosei stated that the commercial electric vehicles (EVs) created by EVM-J use a high-efficiency motor control system that was originally developed to reduce power loss during acceleration and deceleration, increase driving range, and reduce battery load for longer battery life.
In addition to expanding its production network in Japan, EVM-J is constructing the country’s first mass production assembly factory for commercial EVs in Kitakyushu City, which is connected to Zero Emission e-PARK, a complex that offers an opportunity to experience every facet of EVs.
With the development of CASE, the automobile industry’s structure is changing, and Toyoda Gosei wants to expand sustainably by fostering innovation and new business sectors.
In order to increase its understanding of new mobility, the company purchased an interest in EVM-J. This allowed it to learn firsthand about the whole set of procedures from EV development to manufacturing through people exchanges and other cooperative activities.
It should be mentioned that in November 2024, Toyoda Gosei purchased a share in EVM-J through its Corporate Venture Capital Department, an internal division devoted to these ventures.
