Sukoon, the first therapeutic behavioral platform raises $15 Million

An investment of $15 million has been made by Lightrock India in a Healthcare startup ‘Sukoon’. India’s first therapeutic behavioral health platform aiming toward self-therapy. India has seen a rise in healthcare startups with the advancements of today’s technology with its focus being mental health services. A healthcare startup named Noom raised $657.3 million.

Sukoon is a Healthcare mental health unit based in Gurgaon founded by Vidit Bahri and Kanishk Gupta in the month of February 2020.

Lightrock India also announced acquiring a significant stake in Sukoon. After the announcement Saleem Asaria a partner at Lightrock India has taken over the role of Executive Chairman and Vidit & Kanishk have taken over the roles of senior leadership. The investment made in Sukoon is said to be the largest to date and the capital will help them focus on building the largest therapeutic behavioral health platform in India. The healthcare industry is said to be facing a severe shortage of mental health specialists. Currently, an estimated 10,000 psychiatrists and 1000 clinical psychologists are practicing in India which restricts the number of psychiatrists available for the patients.

Sukoon made a statement on Wednesday saying “Sukoon uses a multi-disciplinary team of experienced psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, counselors, and vocational therapists to ensure that each patient receives personalized and holistic care. Additionally, the hospital environment is carefully designed to facilitate the care journey. In the last year, Sukoon has treated over 11,000 patients suffering from a spectrum of conditions across inpatient and outpatient services.”

Vidit Bihari founder of Sukoon said, “We are excited to be working with Lightrock India and Saleem to build on our vision. We have always believed in putting our patient care and experience at the center of our protocols and have achieved recognition for the leading services we provide in Delhi. We are currently expanding our services to Bengaluru and Mumbai as the first step of a pan-India programme of scale”.
