Techstars Startup Weekend Nairobi invites Social innovators

Techstars Startup Weekend Nairobi, which takes place on July 23-25, has welcomed social innovators to participate. The event aims to create an atmosphere where individuals can join together to tackle critical social and economic challenges via innovative solutions.

Startup Weekend is the flagship programme of Techstars, an American-founded seed accelerator that has accepted over 2,500 businesses with a total market capitalization of over $200 billion. The methodology aims to help participants get from idea to entrepreneur in under 54 hours.

This event, which will take place at the iHiT Kenya Innovation Hub in Kilimani, Nairobi, is accessible to anybody aged 18 to 40, including designers, students, business professionals, developers, engineers, and physicians.

Participants will present numerous concepts and create teams around them throughout the course of the weekend. The teams will learn how to utilise leading techniques to refine their ideas into a prototype with the aid of mentors and coaches. Teams will have five minutes to propose their ideas to a panel of judges at the Techstars Startup Weekend’s final session, after which a winner will be chosen.

“Startup Weekend is a global event that will afford Kenyans a chance to build on for one to put their ideas, get useful feedback and mentorship out there, thrashing through it and implement a minimum viable product,” said Favour Ruhui, one of the organisers of the event.
