The sixth MEST Africa Challenge accepting applications with agri-tech focus

The sixth edition of the MEST Africa Challenge, which aims to identify and support exceptional agri-tech entrepreneurs, is now accepting applications. The Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology (MEST) and the Norwegian Embassy are working together on this initiative.

MEST is a pan-African software and entrepreneurship training program, seed fund, and incubator that was founded in Ghana in 2008 by serial entrepreneur Jorn Lyseggen. It assists in the launch of technology startups throughout the continent.

Now in its sixth edition, the MEST Africa Challenge offers winners US$50,000 in equity funding and features a sector focus for the first time. The challenge provides vital support, funding, and mentorship to agri-tech startups, enabling them to “Find Their Soil.”

”Find Your Soil is a call to action for agri-tech innovators to discover the ideal environment where their vision can flourish. Through the MEST Africa Challenge, we aim to support this ecosystem by providing the necessary resources, visibility, and strategic support for these entrepreneurs to thrive,” said Ashwin Ravichandran, portfolio advisor at MEST Africa.

Startups from important West African markets, such as Benin, Cape Verde, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Mali, and Togo, are eligible to compete in the MEST Africa Challenge 2024.

In addition to accessing MEST’s vast global network and earning US $50,000 in equity funding, the winning startup will also gain valuable partnerships, mentorship, and investment opportunities to propel its global presence and growth.
