To address climate crisis through entrepreneurship, AfriLabs collaborates with U.S. Department of State
AfriLabs, an African hub network, has teamed up with the Office of Global Partnerships (E/GP) of the US Department of State to address the climate crisis and encourage entrepreneurship in Africa.
Through its community-focused model, AfriLabs, which was founded in 2011, empowers and supports innovation hubs all over Africa, while the US Department of State is the main foreign affairs department of the US government and is tasked with fostering a peaceful and prosperous global community.
One such partnership has now been reached with AfriLabs as part of the Office of Global Partnerships’ efforts to foster public-private partnerships to address global challenges and advance sustainable development. Both organizations hope to support the Coalition for Climate Entrepreneurs (CCE) initiative through their collaboration, which is focused on fostering startups and entrepreneurs who are driving climate solutions in developing countries.
To link climate entrepreneurs with resources and specific opportunities, they will work together on a number of initiatives, such as the US Climate Ops and Partnership Opportunity Delegations (PODs). Promising climate entrepreneurs will also receive assistance from BridgeUSA and the International Visitor Leadership Programme (IVLP).
Engagement, expertise, capital, and deployment will be the partnership’s four main focuses. The partnership hopes to have a big impact by encouraging cooperation, offering skills and knowledge, luring investment, and putting climate solutions into practice.
“We are excited to join forces with the US Department of State in our shared mission to empower entrepreneurs and drive sustainable change,” said Anna Ekeledo, executive director of AfriLabs. “This partnership will create opportunities for climate-focused startups in our hub community across Africa to access expertise, capital, and global markets.”
