Twenty African tech companies to present at Nairobi’s Angel Fair Africa

Twenty African tech companies, ten of which are startups and ten of which are scale-ups, have been chosen to present at the Angel Fair Africa event, which will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, from November 7–8.

Angel Fair Africa began in September 2013 and has since hosted events in Johannesburg, Lagos, Accra, Nairobi, Abidjan, Maputo, Dar es Salaam, Mauritius, and Cape Town last year.

This year’s event, which is being hosted by Chanzo Capital in collaboration with Startupbootcamp AfriTech, MEST Africa, Antler, iHub, and GrowthAfrica, is returning to Nairobi for the first time since 2016. At the Two Rivers International Finance and Innovation Centre, ten startups and ten scale-ups will make their investor pitches.

Startups that are just starting out and require angel, pre-seed, and seed funding are the focus of the event’s first day.

Three Kenyan startups were chosen: Zopa254, NoMa, and VunaPay. BenBen and Lastmal from Ghana and Ejoobi and Hitherroad from South Africa round out the list, while Karaa from Uganda, Goodbite from Mozambique, and Wenzo from Nigeria round it out.

On the other hand, the second day is devoted to scale-ups, which are growing their businesses and require seed, Series A, and Series B funding.

Five representatives from Kenya are present this time: Check-Ups Med, Chumz, Save App, EpiCenter Africa, and Twiva. Ghana’s PayAngel, Tanzania’s KilimoFresh, Nigeria’s HouseAfrica, and two Ivory Coast-based businesses, MojaRide and DigiTech, make up the remaining cohort.

Angel Fair Africa partners like iHub, MEST Africa, and Startupbootcamp AfriTech have already pre-screened and prepared these ventures through one of the programs that all 20 startups and scale-ups have completed.
