Unilever Ventures led $2 M Series A funding raised by skincare brand ClayCo Cosmetics

Niharika Jhunjhunwala’s skincare brand ClayCo Cosmetics, which debuted in March, has successfully raised $2 million in a Series A funding round headed by Unilever Ventures, representing the company’s first outside investment.

The money will go toward increasing the company’s range of products, improving branding and marketing initiatives, promoting hiring, and meeting working capital requirements.

ClayCo is a skincare product manufacturer that combines cutting-edge technology with natural ingredients, taking inspiration from various cultures and historical customs. Its first line of products, “Rituals of Japan,” includes cleansers, moisturizers, serums, and essences that blend modern innovations with traditional ingredients like azuki beans, sake, and rice.

With over 100,000 units sold, the brand’s flagship product, the Rice and Sake Sleep Mask, has become the best-selling night cream on websites like Amazon, Nykaa, and Tira due to its rapid rise in popularity.

Future plans call for ClayCo to introduce a line of body care products with a Moroccan flair. The company wants to provide high-quality, reasonably priced luxury through products that are inspired by various beauty customs.
