Vietnam-based Grab to function in alliance with ZaloPay
The newest cashless solution offered by Grab in Vietnam now includes ZaloPay, the financial services division of internet company VNG.
Grab Vietnam’s services, such as transportation, food, groceries, and package delivery, will all be compatible with the digital wallet. Through its e-wallet Moca and payments made with associated cards, the super app also accepts cash and other cashless alternatives.
Given that ZaloPay and Moca were once seen as rivals in the battle for e-wallets, this alliance is noteworthy.
A standalone mobile payment app called ZaloPay has agreements with 39 domestic banks, Visa, and Mastercard. Additionally, it is a feature that is included into Zalo, a messaging app with 71 million users in Vietnam as of July 2022.
As per reports, Nguyen Cong Chinh, COO of Zalo, previously told that despite VNG’s extensive reach across several industries, the business has no immediate plans to build a super app.
Without going into additional detail, he continued by saying that the conversation platform has been financially successful since 2020.
