We Hub to foster women entrepreneurship through startups
We Hub, India’s first and only state-led incubator by the Government of Telangana to foster and promote women entrepreneurship to start-up, scale-up and accelerate with global market access, on Wednesday formally exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ramagundam Municipal Corporation (RMC) for establishing its satellite office in RMC.
Ramagundam, popularly known as the town of energy, is in the Peddapalli district in Telangana and has one of India’s largest thermal power stations, run by NTPC.
The first-of-its-kind project, “Project Inclusion,” will formalize and establish 500 women-led businesses in the Ramagundam Municipal Corporation region by November 2021, We Hub said in a release here.
The MoU was signed by RMC Commissioner Uday Kumar, and We Hub CEO Deepthi Ravula, in the presence of Telangana Principal Secretary ( ITE&C) Jayesh Ranjan.
WE HUB and RMC envision making this a role model project in the country by grounding women-led enterprises at scale and ensuring the sustainability of the enterprises.
The core philosophy behind this project is not only to bring more women into the workforce but also to create role model enterprises led by businesswomen who will generate employment in the municipal corporation. For this project, the State Bank of India has come on board as the exclusive banking partner.
On the occasion, Jayesh expressed happiness that WE HUB and RMC came together to help the women of Telangana realize their economic, social, and financial goals.
Along with the multiple international and national ventures by WE HUB, I am hoping that this model project will help WE HUB to equip women entrepreneurs in Telangana and scale it with many more departments locally and across India, he added.
Deepthi Ravula said WE HUB is happy to partner with RMC to ground and scale 500 enterprises with 360-degree support. Together, we will be creating a blueprint for more municipalities to enable women in their local areas to go from job seekers to employment generators and add to the local economy.
Uday Kumar said we are working with WE HUB to ensure that sustainable women-led enterprises are created by leveraging technology and promoting digital and financial literacy among the aspirational businesswomen.”
