$1.2 M Seed funding raised by battery tech startup EMO Energy

EMO Energy, a battery-tech startup, has raised Rs 10 crore ($1.2 million) in a seed round that was co-led by Gruhas and led by Transition VC.

EMO provides battery packs for light EVs that are powered by ZEN, a proprietary cell-agnostic tech platform that enables 100% fire Safety, 20-minute fast charging, and 120% improvement in battery life. It was founded in February 2022 by Sheetanshu Tyagi and Rahul Patel.

Sheetanshu and Rahul were essential members of the battery pack teams at General Motors, Rivian, Alta Motors, Ola Electric, Sun Mobility, and Ather prior to founding EMO.

The 2, 3-wheeler battery system from EMO is AIS-156 phase 2 certified, available for direct purchase from EMO, and in mass production. EMO is utilizing its ZEN platform for a number of other applications, such as commercial vehicles, tractors, and large-scale energy storage, in addition to its fireproof battery solution for light EVs.

In order to support 40 deep-tech startups in transitioning industries like e-mobility, green hydrogen, energy storage, net zero journey in buildings, and climate tech, Transition VC recently announced a target corpus of Rs 400 crore ($48.6 million). EMO is the first investment from this fund made by Transition VC.
