$2 B to be invested in SEA, Indian startups by General Atlantic
According to reports, the US-based private equity company General Atlantic is planning to spend $2 billion in Indian and Southeast Asian businesses.
As company valuations in the region decrease, the firm plans to invest in 15 companies in the digital, financial services, retail, and consumer sectors. General Atlantic has $4.5 billion in investments in India and Southeast Asia, but it only invested $190 million in Indian companies in 2021, a record low.
Kumu, a Philippine live streaming service, just raised $74 million in a round-headed by General Atlantic. It also has stakes in Indonesia’s PT MAP Boga Adiperkasa, as well as India’s Reliance Retail and Byju’s.
