$36.8 M Sequoia-led funding raised by Singapore metaverse firm Bud
Bud, a Singapore-based metaverse platform, has secured US $36.8 million in a Series B fundraising round headed by Sequoia Capital India, with ClearVue Partners, GGV Capital, and Qiming Venture Partners participating.
The investment brings the company’s total capital to over $60 million.
Bud, a platform for creating and sharing interactive 3D experiences, was launched in 2019. Users may use geometric modules to create their own worlds, and the site also includes tools for adding music, films, and lighting changes.
So far, 15 million 3D assets and experiences have been created on the company’s platform. Over 150 million times, these assets have been traded between users.
Risa Feng and Shawn Lin, former Snap programmers, founded Bud. The new money will be used to improve the company’s creative tools, expand its user base, and launch Web3 goods for its ecosystem.
In the near future, it also plans to develop its own NFT marketplace.
