Kae Capital led Rs 8.5 Cr Pre-seed funding raised by mobility platform Lane

In a pre-seed fundraising round headed by Kae Capital, DeVC, Antler India, Panthera Peak, and other angel investors contributed Rs 8.5 crore to the tech-enabled driving education and mobility platform Lane.

According to a press statement from Lane, the additional funding will be utilized for geographic expansion, which will include developing sensor technologies, growing into car ownership services, and expanding its instructor network throughout Bengaluru and other Tier 1 cities.

Lane was introduced in January of last year and provides a driver intelligence platform, comprehensive RTO and licensing support, and structured driving instruction.

Additionally, the Bengaluru-based business provides its students with RTO services, automobile purchases, and other mobility-related services. The company reports that around 60% of its students have stated that they intend to buy their first car.

Over 1.7 lakh individuals in India lose their lives in traffic accidents each year, or almost 20 people every hour, according to a market analysis. Despite having only 1% of the world’s automobiles, India is responsible for around 11% of all traffic fatalities worldwide.

In just 18 months, Lane claims to have given over 3,100 students more than 30,000 hours of driving training. With the help of automotive researchers, more than 400 hours of pilot classes were used to build its safety-focused methodology. The company uses simulated classes as one of 15 driving characteristics to evaluate instructors.

With technological adoption spanning driving education, fleet management, professional driver services, and mobility, the industry is still somewhat dispersed. DriveU, for example, claims to have conducted over 5 million drives and served over 7 lakh car owners by using technology to link car owners with qualified and vetted drivers.

In other mobility-related news, River Mobility raised $120 million in Series C fundraising in August 2026, while Milo Drive just raised $2.4 million in seed funding from Caret Capital, Antler India, IAN Capital, and others.

In India, funding for driving education is still comparatively scarce, despite the fact that the larger mobility sector—which includes fleet technology, EV mobility, and driver services—continues to draw investment.
