Pops Worldwide raised undisclosed Series D funding
Digital entertainment company Pops Worldwide, located in Vietnam, has raised an undisclosed sum in its series D round, which was headed by TV Tokyo Corporation of Japan. The company has already raised $37 million in total before this round.
With 690 million viewers across its OTT, YouTube, TikTok, and Facebook platforms, Pops was founded in 2008 by Esther Nguyen. It provides stuff from both domestic and foreign sources in addition to unique content.
Pops and TV Tokyo have previously collaborated on projects. 2020 will see the companies collaborating to dub popular Southeast Asian anime television series including Naruto, Sergeant Keroro, and My Guardian Characters.
The companies will support the development and growth of anime content as well as other live-action programs as part of their new relationship. TV Tokyo and Pops want to offer Japanese material to Southeast Asian viewers by appealing to Gen Z people.
A division of the publicly traded holding corporation for television transmission, TV Tokyo Holdings, is TV Tokyo. Other subsidiaries of the latter include Nikkei CNBC and Paravi.
DinoPops NFTs, a metaverse project by Pops that is based on a well-known Vietnamese comic book, was launched in August.
