Siddharth Jhawar VP of Zomato quits ‘Inter-City legends’ food delivery
Vice-President of Zomato Siddharth Jhawar called it quits recently with Zomato. He announced his exit in a LinkedIn post. Siddharth Jhawar quit Zomato to join Tiger Global-funded machine learning-based advertising tech platform backed by MOLOCO as the head of its Indian operations. The startup uses machine learning in order to build mobile campaigns. MOLOCO is based out of California and raised $150 million in the series D funding round which was led by Tiger Global in 2021 which estimated the company’s valuation at $1.5 billion. Siddharth Jhawar was earlier with Hot star as the head of strategic initiatives and joined Zomato last year in April.
The ‘Intercity Legends’ for Zomato will now be taken care of by Blinkit executive Kamayani Sadhwani. Blinkit was bought by Zomato at the beginning of 2022. Zomato recently launched ‘intercity legends’ which allows its customers to taste authentic dishes from across 10 different cities presently. The feature was made public in the month of September 2022 after being tested first in Gurgaon.
Under the ‘Intercity Legends’, Zomato currently has over 120 restaurants active in 10 cities which include Kolkata, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bangalore, Mathura, Ahmedabad, Chennai, and Agra. Zomato is soon going to expand to another 10 cities in the coming few months. “Zomato gives opportunities that are extraordinary. No mountain can be too high to climb and your past credentials don’t limit the size of your opportunity. I got mine to build a new business from scratch – it was so much fun, especially because of the people around me,” said Siddharth Jhawar in his LinkedIn post.
According to reports by ‘moneycontrol’ in the month of September the intercity services orders, the average value was above Rs 950 which is 2.5 times higher when compared to intra-city orders which were received in the same time period. Rahul Ganjoo, CEO of Zomato food delivery vertical said “We are conscious of responsibly scaling up Inter-city Legends so that it is cost-efficient… It will not be years till this service breaks even.”
