Babycare brand Applecrumby raised $4.2 M Growth funding from 500 Global

Multi-stage venture capital firm 500 Global has provided a $4.2 million growth investment to Applecrumby, an eCommerce platform and babycare brand based in Malaysia.

Applecrumby said in a statement on Wednesday that the investment will quicken the company’s growth through its premium, secure, and reasonably priced babycare products, including PureBasicsTM by Applecrumby, the first mass-market diapers in the world to be made entirely of chlorine-free materials.

In order to better serve the changing needs of contemporary parents, Applecrumby will also be able to develop new products under the PureBasics brand and increase its global footprint and distribution networks thanks to the additional funding.

Through local distributors, the company intends to enter 20 countries by the end of 2024.

“We believe that parents should have access to affordable, toxin-free babycare products, regardless of where they are based,

“Applecrumby has been bringing moms and dads peace of mind since 2012, and the new capital boost will allow us to broaden our impact, ensuring more families can give their child a healthier and happier start in life,” said Sean Tan, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Applecrumby.

Applecrumby is a company that provides high-quality, chemical-free baby care products at an affordable price to parents in Southeast Asia.

The crew innovates to create the most protective and safe products for parents to care for their infants, from their dermatologist-tested baby wipes to their cleaning detergents and baby skincare essentials made with organic-certified ingredients.

Currently, 11 countries—including Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, the Philippines, and China—sell Applecrumby products.

Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop, Dagee Baby, Mothercare, MedPLus Pharmacy, Little Genius Baby, and other well-known brands are among their retail partners.

This year, the brand will be more conveniently accessible for parents in Malaysia, with nearly 2,000 retail locations carrying it.

In order to ensure optimal dryness, quick absorption, and effective moisture lock-in so babies stay comfortable throughout the night, the company designed and produced PureBasics by Applecrumby, their patented mass market diapers that are painstakingly made with 100% chlorine-free materials throughout all 11 layers, FSC Certified biodegradable pulp, plant-based super soft backsheet and topsheet, and their unique GreenCore-DryTM technology.

Since its launch at the end of 2023, Applecrumby’s PureBasics have sold over 250,000 packs.

There is a crucial distinction between elemental chlorine-free (ECF) and 100% chlorine-free (TCF) diapers, even though both avoid dangerous elemental chlorine during the bleaching process.
