Foodtech startup Biokraft raises Rs 2 Cr Pre-seed funding from GVFL

Biokraft Foods, a foodtech startup, has raised Rs 2 crore in pre-seed funding under the direction of GVFL.

As it advances toward commercialization, it intends to use the additional funding to improve R&D, quicken product development, and get ready for regulatory approvals.

Kamalnayan Tibrewal founded Biokraft in 2023 with the goal of creating cultivated meat products that have the same flavor and texture as traditional meat.

The startup is using 3D bioprinting and cutting-edge biotechnology to create structured cultivated meat. It has taken a hybrid strategy, combining food-safe ingredients with farmed meat to increase texture, scalability, and affordability.

Biokraft claims to have already received grants and incubation support from iCREATE, SPTBI, and ICT-NICE, and to have completed more than 400 consumer trials with positive outcomes.

Its business strategy targets consumers who care about sustainability as well as food producers, eateries, and merchants looking for alternatives to traditional meat supply chains. Applications for pet food and farmed seafood are also in its future pipeline.

It will face competition from global cultivated meat pioneers like Eat Just and Upside Foods as well as from regional alt-protein startups.
