Piper Serica led $1 M Seed funding from airport operations tech company Blunav

Piper Serica led a $1 million seed funding round for Blunav, an airport operations technology company.

According to a press release from Blunav, the money raised will be used for team growth, ongoing product development, and scaling deployments in India and other countries.

Blunav, an airport technology company co-founded by Suseendar Marimuthu and Cherukuru Sridharan, is developing a full stack, cloud-based Airport Operating System that unifies enterprise, passenger, and operational systems. The company makes it possible for airports, especially small and mid-sized hubs, to modernize operations, boost productivity, and improve the traveler experience.

Blunav seeks to solve a recurring problem in the aviation industry. While mid-sized facilities use disjointed vendor systems, smaller regional airports frequently depend on manual procedures. On the other hand, large hubs oversee intricate multi-terminal environments with limited system interoperability and operational data in silos.

Under the Startup India initiative of the Airports Authority of India, the Chennai-based Blunav is being deployed for the first time at Chennai International Airport. In a 20-day study involving over 3,500 flights, the airport was able to record a 22% decrease in runway occupancy time after deployment thanks to its Airside Management software.

Real-time access to operational data across teams, systems, and passenger touchpoints is made possible by Blunav’s Airport Operating System, which unifies several operational systems into a single connected platform.

Global airport technology companies like SITA and Amadeus are competitors of the startup.
